About Us
Jim Porch, MBA, CPA
Jim Porch is a CPA and financial executive with over three decades of experience spanning public accounting, corporate finance, and small business ownership. He has an unrelenting focus on serving his clients and providing the highest level of quality at affordable prices. Jim’s passion for taxes and all things business began at age 14, working in his family’s bookkeeping and tax practice, and later as he trained as a Senior Tax Consultant at Price Waterhouse & Co., focusing on small business and high-net-worth individual tax planning.
Jim’s corporate career includes senior finance and credit leadership roles at major financial institutions, including Macquarie Group, LaSalle Bank, JP Morgan Mortgage Capital, and Nomura Securities International, where he oversaw U.S. commercial real estate lending portfolios worth hundreds of millions to billions of dollars. At JP Morgan Mortgage Capital, he served concurrently as Senior Credit Officer and Chief Financial Officer and sat on the Board of Directors. Earlier in his career, he co-founded CreditVest, Inc., a national commercial real estate due diligence firm serving the RTC, FDIC, HUD, and large US and international banks, growing it to more than 30 employees across three offices while serving as CFO and Head of Commercial Real Estate Underwriting.
Alongside this corporate track record, Jim has built and run several successful small businesses. In addition to CreditVest, He founded Laurel Real Estate Services/Apartment Finder, growing revenues by nearly 75% over four years before its acquisition by CoStar in 2015, and later owned WP Flooring and Tile LLC, growing sales from $1.2M to $1.8M in a single year. Today, he leads Clarity Financial Services in Leland, NC, a small business advisory firm as well as preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses and serving as a tax expert affiliated with the Dave Ramsey Trusted Tax Professional program.
Jim holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, also from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Jim appeared in more than 200 Major League Baseball games for the Pittsburgh Pirates—but, unfortunately, not as a ball player but as a member of the grounds crew during high school and college. During that time, he met Miss Angel, then a tour guide at the ballpark, who would become his wife of many years. Jim and Angel are deeply blessed by their lasting marriage, their two daughters, and their three grandchildren. After living in Pittsburgh, PA; Atlanta, GA; Miami, FL; and Chicago, IL, they decided small-town life was what they needed. Not quite Green Acres, they moved first to Brunswick, GA, and then up the coast to Leland, NC, to be closer to family.
Most importantly, Jim and Angel have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They serve faithfully each week at Lifepoint Church by welcoming guests, caring for children in the Kids ministry, and helping point others to life in Jesus.

Let Us Help:
Dear Friend,
I have a feeling I know why you’re reading this right now.
You need more time in your day. Running a business is extremely demanding and there just isn’t enough time in the day to keep all the plates from spinning out of control. What you need most right now is more proactive help. You need the benefit of business advising to straighten up your business finances and tax strategy. As soon as possible. In fact, yesterday would have been ideal to get our business advising expertise. Am I close?
We get it. We’ve worked with plenty of businesses who have to cobble together 9 different software programs to keep everything straight, or who just wash their hands of it all and put everything on the credit card … and then try to clean up every year after the fact. And they know that this is no way to properly monitor profit margins, cash controls, account management, tax strategy, and all of the myriad components of an effective financial system for a business. They need business advising support.
Perhaps this is your story too. Or perhaps you’ve reached a stage of development in your business that you want to pass the baton of accounting to another expert business advising team so your team can focus on what they do best: making sales and taking care of customers.
Or are you just starting your business and want to begin on the right foot?
Whatever the reason, we want you to know that our business advising team has been diligently and effectively taking care of the accounting needs of countless organizations in a wide variety of industries—discreetly and expertly handling the ongoing financial management of tax burdens, payroll, bookkeeping, and other comprehensive accounting services while providing expertise in business planning, coaching, and strategic consulting that many businesses need.
Because here’s a certain truth as it relates to taxes and your business: The State and Federal Government would love to have more of your business’s hard-earned money in their accounts. And yes, even though it’s painful, none of us begrudge paying our legal and fair share of taxes. But the problem is that regular business owners, like you, are missing out on legal and safe deductions to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed refunds every year.
It doesn’t have to be this way. You don’t have to hand more dollars over to the government than they require just because you don’t know their rules as well as they do. You don’t have to live in a constant state of anxiety over the state of your books, feeling guilty about the time you should be devoting to keeping your business profitable.
In fact, to help you find answers to your questions, I’ve compiled some resources in the last couple of years for business people like you in response to the specific tax and accounting questions I’ve received from my clients.
